Welcome to Pups Stay Home

The role of a house and pet sitter is a huge responsibility. You are trusting a sitter to take care of your beloved pet and your most valuable possession, your home. You need to know that you can have complete confidence in the sitter, so you can relax and enjoy your holiday knowing everything at home is being taken care of.

I have over 17 years experience of working professionally with animals, mostly dogs but also cats, sheep, chickens, horses, all the small furries and some exotics too. I started out in 2008 as a dog walker and pet sitter, mostly doing walks and short sits/visits, a little home boarding, and a few live in sits. I then went on to do puppy and dog training, both one to one training and classes, and did that for many years. For the last three years I have concentrated on behaviour work. I am a fully accredited and qualified Clinical Animal Behaviourist, registered with the Animal Behaviour and Training Council. If you would like to find out more about my behaviour work, experience and qualifications, take a look here www.danielsdogs.co.uk

You couldn’t be leaving your dog in better hands!

Much of my behaviour work is now done online; consultations and treatment plans for dogs and their caregivers all over the UK. I still do some in person work, but only in my local area of Monmouthshire. This means I have been able to offer a pet sitting and house sitting service once again, which I really love doing; spending time taking care of and getting to know all sorts of dogs is my idea of the perfect job! I have a special fondness for, and a great deal of experience working with Dachshunds in particular, and tend to specialise more in the toy and small breeds in general.

I am fully insured, DBS checked and Canine First Aid trained.

I have my own dog who comes on sits with me. She is super friendly and calm, and has been my helper dog for hundreds of puppies and dogs over the years. She is a small/medium (11 Kg) sized dog, a mixed breed (she looks like a bit like a Cockapoo but she’s actually a Spanish street dog rescue that I’ve had from a puppy). She gets on very well with other dogs, but of course it will also depend on the temperament and preferences of your dog, so I always make sure that meet and greets take place before booking. She is a very fit and healthy, spayed 12 year old, and is of course fully house trained and exceptionally well behaved. She is as happy on a walk as she is snoozing and snuggling up for cuddles at home. She is the most loving, good natured and chilled out dog you could meet.

I can do short or long stays, and will be at home with your pet, or out on walks with them, for 20 hours every single day – some days this will be 24 hours, but there are usually 3-4 days a week where I do need to go out, usually for around two to three hours, but never more than four.

If you have a dog with separation anxiety who can’t be left, I can offer sits of 24 hours a day. There is a higher fee for this.

Am I the right pet and house sitter for you?

Do you prefer your dog to stay in the comfort of their own home, sticking to their familiar routine and surroundings, ensuring their utmost well-being at all times?

Do you have a dog who would struggle in kennels, perhaps they are not comfortable in unfamiliar or noisy places, or are more shy or nervous?

Do you live in Monmouthshire or nearby?

Do you have excellent Wi-Fi coverage and your own parking?

If the answer is yes to all the above questions then I will be the right sitter for you.

Please note - demand is very high so get in touch well before your holiday is planned to check for availability.

“I can't recommend Lucy and Pups Stay Home highly enough. From the beginning and even prior to the first stay, Lucy was a complete professional in every aspect, between the paperwork and checks to the initial visit and then the stay. As a first time mum to pups only 4-5 weeks old it was a big deal for me to leave them but I knew after meeting Lucy they would be in the safest hands and they were. She respected my home and went out of her way to get the puppies what they needed. I had daily updates and the house was looked after. We have a few more stays booked in this year and I'm hoping that it will be a long working relationship as it has solved so many issues for me not having to rely on friends and family. Very good value also and worth every penny.”
